The Automotive Engineer (AE) and Quality Control (QC) Manager position at EMPI is responsible for leading the Company’s quality and inspection processes and managing the QC team. He/she will responsible for creating and ensuring adherence to quality standards and procedures. This position is also responsible producing and maintaining technical drawings and specifications for EMPI’s line of automotive parts, as well as being involved in the process of developing new parts. The AE and QC Manager will manage a team of associates and have regular interaction with the executive management team, which requires solid written and verbal interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to meet tight timelines and to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. This position reports to the COO.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Quality Control Manager
Develop and implement quality control standards and processes for manufactured and imported automotive parts.
Develop, update and maintain product quality documentation.
Identify root cause and corrective action for quality concerns.
Lead cross functional teams in the pursuit of problem solving and mistake proofing quality problems.
Develop operational knowledge of production activities to determine appropriate preventative quality assurance practices and to assess performance against requirements.
Establish, monitor and follow-up on required product testing as required by customer, internal and benchmarking requirements to assure product design, intent, function and integrity.
Maintain and update supplier audit system and schedule.
Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.
Aide procurement in the evaluation and qualification of new supplier materials.
Lead supplier performance improvement projects to increase supplier capability of consistently meeting requirements.
Produce, read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and automotive part drawings and blueprints.
Identifying and resolving process-related inefficiencies.
Provide engineering support to resolve customer concerns.
Participate and/or lead cross functional teams in continuous improvement projects.
Minimum three years of related experience in the Automotive Industry.
Knowledge of quality systems (Ex: IATF 16949, ISO 9001 or TS 16949).
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement concepts.
Prior management experience preferred but not required.
Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast-pace setting.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills required.
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Ability to produce, read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and automotive part drawings and blueprints.
