Assistant Product Manager will guide a team that is charged with a product line contribution as a business unit. This includes increasing the profitability of existing products and developing new products for the company. Assistant Product Manager will take ownership of existing ideas and help to develop new ideas based on industry experience to drive continuous improvement. The role requires a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision and the drive to make that vision a reality. Assistant Product Manager is expected to set and achieve ambitious goals to deliver meaningful results.
Assistant Product Manager will communicate with all areas of the company: work with engineering counterpart to define product release requirements, interact with marketing teams to support product promotion, communicate the product position and key benefits, and assist in targeting customers. The Assistant Product Manager serve as the internal and external liaison for the product offering, working with sales personnel and key customers.
Manage the re-manufactured product line from strategic planning to tactical activities, including life cycle management
Specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by ongoing visits to current and potential customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders
Develop and execute standard operating principles for new product introduction
Drive a solution set across development teams (primarily Development/Engineering, and Marketing Communications) to define a go-to-market strategy
Identify initial planning requirements based on customer needs and support core procurement
Ensure that all product data is accurately entered in ERP systems to be able to support all business needs
Assist in re-manufactured caliper competitive positioning to optimize margins and increase profitability
Support caliper re-manufacturing facility to drive efficiency and effectiveness
BS Degree in Business, or related field required; MBA preferred
3-5 years of marketing/product management experience is a plus
Automotive Original Equipment or Aftermarket experience preferred
Demonstrated success defining and launching products
Technical knowledge and understanding of hydraulic brake system functionality
Knowledge of re-manufacturing, as well as aftermarket brake customer base and competitors is a plus
Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills; ability to prioritize complex range of activities
Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required; Access preferred
Proficiency in project management skills and tools (project charters, Gantt charts, critical path analysis, etc.)
Effective interpersonal and team skills
Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and key stakeholders without formal authority
